Conservatives from around New Jersey’s Seventh District converged last night to attend a fundraiser at the Basking Ridge Country Club in honor of Congressional Candidate, David Larsen. Mr. Larsen is seeking the Republican nomination for U.S. Congress in New Jersey’s Seventh Congressional District.
A principled conservative, David Larsen is campaigning to cut spending, create jobs, and restore the American Dream.
Headlining the event was radio talk show host, Steve Malzberg. A New Jersey resident and outspoken conservative, Malzberg delivered an impassioned plea to the audience, urging them to stand behind and support David Larsen as he challenges moderate Republican, Leonard Lance.
“Although Congressman Lance tries to portray himself as a principled conservative, it is clear that his record proves otherwise,” said Malzberg. “We know famously that he was one of only eight Republicans to vote for Cap and Trade. But you go down the list in his first term and you see a pattern. One of only three Republicans…one of only eighteen Republicans…one of only seven Republicans…one of only six Republicans…that speaks volumes for who Leonard Lance is. When you have that type of record of extreme liberalism, it’s time to go!”
Following Steve Malzberg, David Larsen took the podium and described his family’s immigration from Norway following the Nazi occupation of their homeland after World War I. He continued by explaining his motivations for running for public office.
“I believe that our nation as set forth in the US Constitution is a contract between generations and it is our obligation to pass on to the next generation a nation with the same benefits, liberties, and opportunities that we inherited from previous generations. I believe it is important to make the necessary cuts and sacrifices now and not put them off far into the future for our children and their children to bear. As a father of three daughters, I understand what every parent knows and has known for thousands of years - it is up to us to do the right thing so our children will have a better life.
“After spending 35 years in business and providing jobs for many, I experienced firsthand how the heavy hand of government can destroy business and our economy,” Larsen continued. “This is what compelled me to make the run for Congress. Like many of you sitting here tonight, I see how our nation is heading down the wrong path and have decided the best way to steer us back in the right direction is to fight in Congress on your behalf.”
Leaving the podium to a standing ovation, candidate Larsen turned over the microphone to Steve Malzberg who proceeded to deliver the evening’s closing remarks.
“Our nation is at a crossroads. Barack Obama’s vision for this country, rubber stamped by the Democrats in Congress, and a handful of Republicans, control the future of our children and grandchildren. This is the most important election of our time. If you care about the future of our children, send a message, and elect real conservative Republicans to Congress and help save America. Nothing short of that is at stake here. David Larsen is a true conservative and I can’t think of a better man to send to Washington, as part of the effort to save our country. I encourage you all to elect David Larsen as the Congressional Representative for New Jersey’s Seventh District!”
