After a tumultuous and bruising primary campaign dominated by a slugfest between the incumbent, Leonard Lance, and front-running challenger David Larsen, the voters of the 7th Congressional district in New Jersey went to the polls on June 8 and rendered their verdict: a majority of 56% handed Mr. Lance a second term in Congress. Mr. Larsen came in second with 31% while Lon Hosford garnered just 8% and Bruce Baker eked out only 5%.
Today conservative radio talker Steve Malzberg interviewed David Larsen regarding his campaign for Congress. Larsen spoke with confidence and assurance, explaining his position on the issues, why he is running for office, and why it's time for the voters to retire Leonard Lance on June 8. Shortly after the interview ended, Malzberg's producer received a call from Lance (who declined a previous offer to appear with Larsen), demanding equal time.
Malzberg interviewed him shortly afterward and Lance proceeded to shoot himself in the foot several times.
Malzberg ultimately had this to say of David Larsen: "You are exactly what this country needs in Congress."
Malzberg had this to say about Leonard Lance: “How could they trust you to not do something like that again?"
